Where are the argumentative Indians who took a pride place in Amartya Sen’s non-fiction, who resided in that book under the pillow of Manmohan Singh’s bed as a night-time reading! Have we lost the sanity, the objective, the determination to see ourselves as free human beings? Or is it that we have become so gullible that it doesn’t really matter who plays with our emotions and sentiments next!
I REFUSE to be a part of this society where politicians are exacerbating our predicaments by dividing us from every possible way –the most obvious religious way which could not get more ugly than their voting strategies, the social ways and of course the emotional ways!!
We BLED and BLED and BLED, not once but perpetually as we saw the brutality at its peak when people were indiscriminately shot dead during the deadliest of attacks in Mumbai. We as a nation, as hindustanies, as Indians unlike our faceless, leaderless politicians, BLED when we saw our State Home Minister – R.R. Patil saying, “ Bade, bade cities mei yeh hota rehta hai”, - he slaughtered our soul, wounded our sentiments in a much worse way than a terrorist has ever done to us. I wanted to be a politician once upon a time, but under my naivety and innocence, I couldn’t understand that before anything you need to possess an absolute insensitive soul to be a part of that fraternity. Our politicians today have endowed upon us the utmost disgrace not only at a national but also at an international level. People, world-over, are laughing at us today, at our stupid disgusting and pretentious efforts of trying to appear united!! The terrorists today our mocking at our failure of not being able to run the system despite of several lessons they have given us in the past to learn from. We have become a game, too easy to win by the perpetrators, too easy to play that even 18 years' terrorists can make us impotent, too easy for them to come and DESTROY us so that they can create yet another game on the face of non-existent INDIA.
Today, I am infuriated and agitated with the plight of the countless people suffering. My heart goes out for that two year old israeily kid who hasn’t even grown up enough to comprehend what it means to have lost your parents, what does it mean to be an orphan, what is called terrorism and what is it that causes it. What will go through the psyche of the child when he will grow up to ask all these questions? Or, WE WILL give him that foundation, that learning ground where probably he will have the answers of the questions himself, we will give him that map of insecure India, insecure city, insecure society, where he will grow up – if fortunate enough – and BLAME US for snatching the basic love from his life. YES, we have snatched his basic needs, we have deprived him of the basic love of his parents, we have rendered him homeless, we have KILLED his parents. NOT YOU, NOT ME BUT US. We have killed his happy life, before he could understand; we have assassinated his wishes, desires and burnt them alive in front of our eyes.
As I think and write about that little child, the tears trickle down my cheeks. I truly believe that we have in us to make this a better place. Forget the politicians who have their own game plans, isolated from the growth and peace of the country, the responsibilities now lie on us. Shivraj Patil’s resignation is as futile as the elections around the corner!! You hear us – we are bleeding, we are infuriated – we need SECURITY, fresh air to breathe in, we need our homes back, we need our parents, sisters, friends back....We DONOT NEED ENUCHS LIKE YOU!! We need our people.

Its easy to watch it Live on TV...even if we remotely want to connect to the spirits of those who fight day in and day out...so that we (including the politicians, whom we elect)sleep peacefully...
Time to bring democracy in its true senses..Time to vote for the right candidate, or just put the stamp on that blank column placed right below tha Ballot paper, that is equivalent to saying, "I don't find any one voteworthy!!!"

Totally agree...and do believe in it that its now high time that we need to react...talking abt our politicians, initially i always use to think that why are we so reactive and not proactive...but looking at the scenario and the series of incidents happening my belief of being reactive is also fading...i think that we have started accepting these attacks...we have become use to it.. and the comment of Mr RR Patil that "bade bade shero main aisi choti choti baate hoti raheti hai" just proves it simply...I think the movie Wednesday was very provoking...one must watch it..oh not to forget the present incident of shootout also occured on Wednesday...don't know what can be done...but really really want to do something...and the first step that we can take is to VOTE...

I empathise with your sentiments, to see one's city experiencing a bloodbath is a feeling incomparable to any other, however I believe that we have nobody to blame except ourselves.

Its WE who've created the system, who've chosen a ministry which is 'flexible' enough so our business houses can get their 'work done'. Its WE who've let in this virus which is destroying us gradually from within, and its US who should look into it. It's not about blasts in Mumbai or Malegaon, its about what how aware WE are.

Do we ever find ourselves willing enough to get endorsed with a challan when we violate a traffic rule? NO. We prefer to 'tip' the cop with a 100 bucks. Do we like to pay legal taxes? NO. We prefer to save every penny and not show our right incomes in the returns. Do WE care to really follow the rules? NO, NO, NO.

Which country / state / democracy in the world would not culture such ministers when the entire civilization is so 'flexible'? We have always believe in adjusting and accommodating. We have always believed in God, so much so that everything that happens is attributed to Him.

A society is what its people make it out to be. It cannot change overnight. However, I agree that its time to change. Its time to voice opinions and Its unfortunate that an act this dastardly had to happen to initiate the nation to open its eyes.

Its a joke that in a city that ranks among the top 5 in the world in terms of population and growth, a few animals had the cheek to come in BOATS and wreak havoc. Such things only happened in games on Playstation.

Anyway, I hope we now wake up and account ourselves and hold ourselves responsible for whats happening around us, be it growth or deaths.

Yeah..we have always jus sat in front of the T.V.and expressed our empathy, like the rest of the world we hav always sat and ridiculed such happenings!! each time it hapened we took it and forgot it!! under the facade of spirit we got up and and got back to work again...but was it really the spirit or jus that we had become too habitual of taking deaths and being killed as a nation again and again!! We are the sufferers, we need to work for our nation, if we do not like wots happenin we need to get up and take action against it!We, each one of us as an individual has to contribute..lets b the change bearers..and let this fervour of emotions not be a momentory one....we need to remember our wounds and build our nation! I hope we don not forget this and the 'spirit' for change doesn die!!! changes dont happen overnight, its a process..let nations like israel be our inspiration(wen lebnon killed 5 students of a school, they dropped bombs on thm for 5 days!) i don not mean revenge here..but we need to strengthen our responses to such events and eventualy head to becoming 'secure'. Lets vote this time as a begining of bringing about the change and take the ownership to re build our country.

There is no magic bullet, and while it is easy to express rage and froth at the mouth about our politicians, the truth is that terrorist attacks have happened before and will happen again. Till we can strike fear in the hearts of potential terrorists and inimical governments who use terrorim as an instrument of state policy. Till we can find them, kill them and their families. Bring the battle to their door step. Take what is dear to them, so they dont sleep well and feel the fear we feel today.

We need a change in security culture and a adversary-facing security architecture, which is dynamic and adapts itself in terms of strategy, tactics and equipment as required.

Can that happen today or next week or next month or next year, sadly probably not, these things take years to build and it is only then will be start seeing damage limitation.

No one understands non-violence, pleading, candle light vigils. Retribution and its fear is the only thing that will stop these things, this 'cost' that the PM spoke needs to become a reality. That takes determination, foresight and stealth.

The international community, even other co-afflicted like the US, EU and Israel have their own interests, somethings have to be done alone. We a a nation need to start taking responsibility and pride in our security apparatus. The wrong people in strategic posts due to reasons of political exigency, cast, credd, profit, favour need to go. Some things have to be sacrosanct, beyond corruption, and only then will India be able to protect, retaliate and maybe even use strategic pre-emptive offense as a policy.

heyy guyzz i think issue is wider than jus voting nd all dat stuff.. i think its time now to change basic laws in our country. like in USA one year commando training is compulsary for each citizen. i think govt should this rule compulsory for all indians. its very easy to b baised at this stage and blame only muslims for this act. but we should not forget its not the time to dscriminate country on religion basis.. rather we all should unite and show thw world( terrorist & pakistan) that what INDIA means.. and We should take a leaf out of USA's book and should attack terrorist training centre in muzzafrabad in POK(pakistan occupied kashmir).... JAI HIND..

I feel that we are reacting a little late. Had we reacted like this after the many bomb blasts Mumbai has gone through in the past maybe this tragedy could have been averted. We need to tackle smaller issues in our city before trying to make a big change. A city where traffic signals are broken, where people spit and throw garbage is a city that needs more than people like you and me to help make it better. we probably only make up 5-6% of the votes that go towards our politicians.
but the good part is that atleast we reacted this time..... its never too late.

Yeah we bled every time.
But now it’s the time to set our Priorities Right First. People Must Come First.
Now its time that; we must teach them a lesson who kept feeding their kin and skin at our cost…

At the stroke of midnight on 15th August, 1947 people of India lost their freedom and the politicians gained their Independence. With the introduction of Universal Adult Suffrage, people - educated and uneducated, literate and illiterate, men and women were persuaded to vote for the new government to be run by ‘Independent’ politicians of the country.

The tryst with corruption began in earnest.

The dawn of democracy in the subcontinent brought hope amongst many poor and colonized nations of the world. After 60 years of unhindered democratic marathon India was hailed as the beacon of democracy and hope. India shone as its illegal cousin - the neighboring Islamic Republic of Pakistan slipped into utter chaos.

But the people of India struggled and struggled. The political establishment held little hope for the aspiring people. The newfound freedom among bureaucrats and politicians thickened their skins. Corruption became the norm and our politicians helped it flourish providing it with all the administrative machinery necessary for sustenance. They led by example – true leaders.

Corruption is the blood of India’s economy. Nothing moves an inch without the help of a mamooli (bribe) – even the consignment carrying tons of ammunition illegally smuggled into the shores of a sleeping nation. Had it not been for a police constable taking lump sum of bribe some day before the 1993 Mumbai blasts, the RDX, AK-47s and other smuggled ammunition that helped the blasts could have never been carried into the heart of Mumbai.

Today we are witnessing an unprecedented public anger directed at our politicians after the recent Mumbai blasts and killings. The navy and police blame Intelligence, intelligence blames politicians, politicians blame Pakistan, Pakistan blames Indian media, and the media blames everyone except itself.

It is not the fault of common man to look at his country’s lawmaker as someone above the law. The 600 years of complete submission to foreign rulers seems to had its undying effect on the minds of people. Whoever the ruler, whether elected or a dictator we gave them uncalled extra respect. This further thickened the bellies of babus and their bosses.

The Chief Minister of Kerala remarked that if it were not slain commando Sandeep Uniikrishnan’s home even dogs wouldn’t have come there. The house was no more Sandeep’s. He had made army barracks his home long before this minister arrived at his father’s home with many other dogs.

Former ISRO employee Mr.Unnikrishnan is an extraordinary example for every Indian to fallow. Never before I had seen a Chief Minister of a state being refused an appointment by a common man in this country of billion worshippers.

People; always remember you are the master, not the politician you just voted to power.

We must respect them but there is a limit. Why should they be inaccessible all the time for a common man? People like Amar Singh, Mayawati have half the number of commando forces that were used to kill terrorists in Mumbai - guarding them day and night.

We have a right to criticize and correct any erring politician of this country; be it the PM or a CM.

The blasts would have been averted if we had a dedicated, unified political establishment. We have given them power to make laws so that they protect and feed us whatever may be the circumstances.

We are no more tolerant to the ugly politics and the ugly politicians. Our politicians must realize their mistakes long before there is a revolution by the people. We have found our voices. Our voice is our weapon. People are not your shields during the hours of crisis. We are the nation and you are given responsibility to look after it.

We the people do not need weapons of destruction to teach you a lesson. Weapons are the last resort of cowards. Democracy must survive. Dialogue is the soul of democracy. None can stop listening to billion voices if they rise in unison.
